ABOUT THE COURSE
The modern organizations, whether large or small, for profit or not for profit, public or private, governmental or non-governmental are operating in an increasingly changing environment. Due to this dynamism in the organizational environment, it has become a challenge for the 21st century manager to ensure the sustainability and survival of their organizations. Challenges faced include but are not limited to; shifts in customer’s tastes and preferences, stiff competition, emergence of new technologies, government regulations and the effects of globalization. In order to surmount these and other challenges, it is crucial for managers to align their organizations to the ever changing environment. This is bearing in mind that only those organizations that adjust to change will be able to survive in a turbulent environment.
The essence of Strategic Business planning and Management course is to equip managers and leaders of organizations with skills necessary to steer their organizations into the long-term future amidst ever increasing environmental changes. Strategic Management Course is aimed at assisting managers and leaders to understand the environment in which their organizations operate, because it is only after understanding these environments that they can be able to adjust their organizations accordingly. The course also aims at equipping them with necessary skills to be able to articulate a future for their organizations, and to steer their organization towards that desired future status. Participants will also be taken through the actual process of formulating their organization’s business plan, a very important tool in the day to day process of steering organization forward.
The course will cover Organizational environment, Strategy Formulation, Strategy Implementation, Strategy Evaluation and Control, Change Management and Business Planning.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

  • This course is designed to equip participants with an understanding of organizational environment by providing them with an insight to techniques of analyzing the organizational / business environment.
  • To equip participants with strategic, and change management and business planning skills.
  • It will particularly enable participants to effectively achieve short, medium term and long-term institutional objectives.


COURSE METHODOLOGY
The course uses participatory learning techniques including lectures, power point presentations, discussions and group work.

DURATION AND TIMING
This is a two week full time residential course. Sessions commence at 8.30 A.M and end at 5.00 P.M. A certificate will be awarded to those who successfully complete the course.


COURSE FEES (Payable in US Dollars or equivalent Kenya Shillings.)
The course fee is US $1480 or equivalent Kenya Shillings per participant. This will cover tuition, course file and case analysis materials.


ACCOMMODATION
Full board accommodation is available at the venue of the course at an additional cost of US$750 OR equivalent Kenya Shillings. This is optional and participants may arrange for their own accommodation. However, it is advisable that participants stay at the venue. Day participants will be charged a rate of US$ 17 or Kshs.1, 300/= per day.


MEDICAL AND LIABILITY INSURANCE
Participants are advised to secure adequate medical and liability insurance cover.


LANGUAGE
This course will be conducted in English.


APPLICATION
The number of participants is limited (minimum 15, maximum 20). Final selection to the course is done upon receipt of payment. Participants are advised to pay at least 1 month before the commencement of the course to allow time to receive joining instructions. If there are not enough registrations, the course may be cancelled or postponed. Applications should reach Netwas International not later than 5th June, 2010.
