It’s becoming increasing important today to incorporate issues of gender in all aspects of water and sanitation to enhance sustainability of the projects. History has proved  that over 70 % of the water and sanitation interventions in developing world that have ignore gender issues proved to be unsustainable.

 

The course on mainstreaming gender in water and sanitation seeks to address this anomaly by using participatory approach through out the training.

Course objectives

a)      To achieve greater awareness, understanding and use of participatory approaches to involve communities in water and sanitation from a gender perspective.

b)      To promote awareness of gender issues through analyzing roles and activities and mobilizing resources needed to inter grate gender issues in programming processes.

c)      Mapping vulnerabilities in water and sanitation projects interventions

d)     How to communicate gender and laying strategies of change.

Who can benefit from this course?

This course is designed for management and field staff of communities based organizations (CBOs), Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), Government bodies and development partners. Public Health Officers, Health managers and Community Health workers who want to improve the impact on the ground and develop sustainable sanitation interventions. Head teachers and teachers in charge of health clubs or WASH clubs

Tuition: US$ 1,480 (2 weeks); US$950 (1 week); US$650 (3 Days)|
Accommodation: US$ 780 (2 weeks); US$380(1 week); US$165 (3 days)|
Medical Insurance: This is optional for a fee of US$ 350, However, they will be asked to submit either their insurance policy or a letter from the sponsor indicating the responsibility held by the sponsor for any medical costs.
